The long distances, differing conditions, and various needs—these are all reasons why a North-South partnership might seem challenging at first glance. However, by approaching one another and the circumstances with openness and interest, previously unknown perspectives and opportunities for learning can emerge. From breaking down stereotypes to gaining a better understanding of global interconnections, and even co-developing solutions, such collaborations can yield many positive outcomes. This workshop will focus on exploring these opportunities. The presenters:- Margaret Nakato Lubyayi (Uganda), Founder and Executive Director of the Ugandan organization Katosi Women Development Trust (KWDT) and coordinator of the Uganda-Saxony Partnership Project. Her work has earned several awards, including the International Margarita Lizarraga Medal from the UN in 2021. KWDT aims to improve the living standards of rural fishing communities around Lake Victoria in Uganda by empowering them to participate actively in their development processes.
- Fiona Okwere (Uganda), Project Coordinator at Katosi Women Development Trust (KWDT) for the Uganda-Saxony Partnership Project.
